Assignment 1: Too Much? Too Little?

After watching the lesson videos for this week, update the worksheet in the Debt DestroyerWk6 Workbook, or take a blank piece of paper and title it “Bespoke Policies.”

Choose one form of insurance that you currently hold or are considering holding.

Create four colums and title them “What do you fear?”, “Define”, “Prevent”, and “Repair”.

Under “What do you fear?”, write 10-20 fears you have in relation to what you aim to protect with an insurance purchase (Home, Health, Family, etc. ).

In the next column, “Define” in detail the worst case scenario for those fears coming true.

Under “Prevent”, what can you do to mitigate that risk?

Under “Repair”, run the traps and think of what would actually happen. Would you really go live on the street? Are your worst fears truly as bad as you felt they were before you defined them?

Open the policy, and on a second sheet of paper answer these five (5) questions:

  1. Does the policy cover your fears, even when taking into account your prevention efforts?
  2. Does the policy satisfy your desired repairs?
  3. Is the deductible in line with your current ability?
  4. What are the Free-Riders?
  5. Is there an alternative? Ex. Healthcare CO-OP.

When you’ve finished, identify any needed changes to the policy, update your action plan to pick up the phone and call your insurance company or broker and effect the change!

Assignment 2: Expand the Wedge – Insurance

In this exercise we will go deeper into your Insurance spend.

On a fresh sheet of paper, write the title “Expand the Wedge – Insurance” and write out the total expense from the “Taking Stock” exercise, OR your new budget. Expand out the total and itemize the spend.

Identify opportunities to be more intentional in your spend. Using simple calculations, assign a value to any behavioral changes, efficiencies or reductions that you can implement this week.

*Tip – Some insurance is paid annually or semi-annually, so be sure to account for all types.

Assignment 3: Create your Weekly Attack Plan (5 points)

Take a blank sheet and title it “Weekly Attack Plan.”

Draft three (3) Spend Offenses. Leverage the efficiencies, eliminations and behavioral changes identified in the Value Alignment and Expanding the Wedge exercises, or include any other opportunities to expand your wedge.

Spend Offensive Examples:

  • Badger your insurance broker
  • Identify one keystone spend habit that eliminates four others
  • Review your subscriptions, online (ex. Netflix) and offline (ex. yard service) and purge the waste (submitted by Torgerson)

Draft three (3) Positive Influxes, hustles, initiatives and easy wins to generate cash inflow.

Positive Influx Examples:

  • Start reading one non-fiction book on finances
  • Plan your groceries for the week, cutting 20% of the cost and 0% of the calories
  • Calculate how much money you need to retire (easy online calculator)

Sum all initiatives to calculate your Estimated Free Cash Flow (FCF) potential.

Assignment 4: DAILY Spend Offenses OR Positive Influxes (4 points per day for a max total of 16 points)

For 4 days this week, set your timer for 20 minutes and focus on one (1) Spend Offensive or one (1) Positive Influx. You are not measured by effectiveness, you are simply devoting time and intentionally making bold moves with your money.

Assignment 5: Review your week and Drive the Wedge (5 points)

At the end of the week, spend some time going back to think about your week.  What worked? What did not? Note your successes and ensure you provide a dollar value.

At the bottom of the sheet, input your Weekly Wedge, your Estimated FCF and Actual Wedge.

Drive the Wedge: Chose an obligation from your Obligation Hit-List and transfer the value of the actual wedge created to the principal balance. This is the single most important step in the entire program.

Make one Bold Move this week to move the needle in any area of your life (For example your health, wealth, relationship, family, work or personal life). It is strongly recommended (though not required) that you make a Bold Move that is directly related to one of your Debt Destruction initiatives.

Proof pic: Upload a photo or video of your Bold Move to your fire team channel. (5 points).

If you need more information about the concept of Bold Moves, refer to the 50 BOLD User Manual.

Special op #1: Do something that scares you
Special op #2: Tell your mom you love her, or visit her gravesite if she’s passed
