GET SHIT DONE: Week 04

Welcome to Week 4 of the 12-week GET SHIT DONE Challenge!

Here are your assignments for the week, by category:

1. GSD Lesson

Watch the Overview video plus both lesson videos below (approx 13 minutes total), and post a proof pic/screenshot showing the end of the last video. (2 points)

Veterans just need to watch the Overview video to get their 2 points. The other lesson videos are optional (but recommended) for veterans.

2. GSD Assignments

Assignment 1: Build your morning ritual (4 points)

Brainstorm a list of mental, physical, and spiritual practices that you can use to build your morning ritual. Then, choose a few of these practices from the list (ideally three to five) and put them into a schedule for your ideal new morning ritual. Test it out for a few days and see how it goes, then make any adjustments that might be needed.

Veterans: Simply review your morning ritual and make any changes that might be needed.

Proof pic: Upload a picture or screenshot of the list or schedule of your morning ritual to your fire team channel.

Assignment 2: Identify your limiting beliefs (4 points)

WATSOT on paper or on your computer to list all the limiting beliefs that come to mind. Even after you slow down, keep writing until you’ve fully exhausted all the limiting beliefs you can identify, from your childhood to the present day. It is recommended to spend at least 10 minutes on this exercise.

Veterans: Simply review your previous list of limiting beliefs and remove any that are no longer relevant and/or add any others that may have crept in.

Proof pic: Upload a picture or screenshot of your list of limiting beliefs to your fire team channel.

Assignment 3: Replace your limiting beliefs with positive affirmations (4 points)

Referring back to your list of limiting beliefs, make a new list consisting of the OPPOSITE of each limiting belief, turning each one into a positive affirmation. This will become your new paradigm. Keep this new list of positive affirmations somewhere you can refer to it every day.

Veterans: Simply review your list and make any needed adjustments, and write the opposite for any new limiting beliefs you may have written down.

Proof pic: Upload a picture or screenshot of your list of positive affirmations (new paradigm) to your fire team channel.

Assignment 4: DAILY ACTION PLAN–Write out your Dark Goals AND your to-do list at the start of each day for 5 days (4 points per day for a max total of 20 points)

For 5 days this week, start your day by writing out your Dark Goals at the top of a sheet of paper, and then write your list of tasks you want to accomplish that day beneath your Dark Goals.

Veterans: Write out your full-fledged Legend Page and Daily Action Plan for 5 days.

Proof pic: Upload a picture of your Daily Action Plan each day to your fire team channel. (An example of what that might look like is below.)

Assignment 5: Review your week (4 points)

At the end of the week, spend some time going back to think about your week.  What went well?  What could have gone better?  How are you feeling about your week? 

Veterans: Your review must focus on the following 2 questions:

  1. How well did I execute my NBM’s? 
  2. How effective were those NBM’s at achieving my goals? 

Proof pic: Post your Weekly Review to your fire team channel. Some suggestions for acceptable formats include: a photo of your hand-written page, a screenshot of your typed assessment, or a video.

GSD Lab (optional)

Watch the video below and complete the assignment. This assignment is optional and not scored. It is intended to help you experiment with some more advanced techniques to boost your productivity.

GSD Lab Assignment: Try a breathing exercise for 3 days in a row.

Watch the video above choose one of the mentioned breathing exercises (or choose a different one based on your own preferences and/or research), and perform that breathing exercise once per day for 3 days in a row. You can count in your head, use a timer, app, or use one of the guided videos below.

Proof pic: Post about your experience to your fire team channel.

3. BOLD MOVE

Make one Bold Move this week to move the needle in any one of the 6 pillars of your life (Health, Wealth, Relationship, Family, Work, Personal). It is strongly recommended (though not required) that you make a Bold Move that is directly related to one of your Dark Goals.

Proof pic: Upload a photo or video of your Bold Move to your fire team channel, and add your Bold Move for this week to your Dark Goal Tracker worksheet under the related Pillar. (5 points).

4. SPECIAL OPS

Your Special Ops assignment for this week is to complete ONE of the three Special Ops listed below, and to substantiate by uploading a proof pic or video to your fire team channel (3 points).

* Special Op #1: Eat a cricket or grasshopper.

* Special Op #2: Race your child to the end of the driveway.

* Special Op #3: Go for a bike ride.

5. MOOT

Join us Friday at 3 PM Central Time for our weekly Moot. Zoom link and password will be posted in Slack each Friday.

Proof pic: Upload a photo or screenshot of the Moot to show you attended the live Moot (4 points) or watched the replay (2 points).
